What is Envarsus XR?

Envarsus XR is a brand-name extended-release immune suppressant that, in combination with other immune suppressants, prevents the body from rejecting a transplanted kidney. When a kidney is transplanted from one person into another, the body responds to it as a foreign object and mounts an immune response to it. Organ rejection occurs when the immune system successfully starts to damage tissues in the transplanted kidney.

The active ingredient in Envarsus XR, tacrolimus blocks the chemicals in the body that activate white blood cells to attack the transplanted organ.

Envarsus XR is taken as a tablet on an empty stomach once per day at the same time every day. A missed dose can be taken up to 15 hours after it should have been taken.

What are the side effects of Envarsus XR?

Envarsus XR suppresses the immune system and reduces the body's ability to prevent or fight infections, raising the risk of infections and certain types of cancer.
