What is Viberzi?

Viberzi is an FDA-approved prescription medicine in the form of oral tablets. It is approved to treat an abdominal disorder called irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D). Viberzi is usually taken twice daily (with food) to keep these symptoms under control.

Viberzi contains eluxadoline, a mu-opioid receptor agonist. It works by decreasing bowel activity.

Viberzi can also interact with a drug called cyclosporine and certain antiretroviral drugs, such as ritonavir, lopinavir, and atazanavir. What are the side effects of Viberzi?

Common side effects of using Viberzi include constipation, nausea, vomiting, bloating, gas, abdominal pain, and dizziness.
