How to take Prestalia

  • Take your medicine as directed. Your dose may need to be changed several times to find what works best for you.

  • Read and follow the patient instructions that come with this medicine. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

  • Missed dose: If it is more than 12 hours until your next regular dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is less than 12 hours, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not use extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

  • Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

Prestalia contraindications - Who shouldn't take Prestalia?

  • This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to perindopril, another ACE inhibitor, or amlodipine, or if you are pregnant, or if you have a history of angioedema.

Prestalia warnings

  • This medicine could lower your blood pressure too much, especially when you first use it or if you are dehydrated. Stand or sit up slowly if you are lightheaded or dizzy.

  • Do not stop using the medicine without asking your doctor, even if you feel well. This medicine will not cure your high blood pressure, but it will help keep it in the normal range. You may have to take blood pressure medicine for the rest of your life.

  • It is not safe to take this medicine during pregnancy. It could harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant.

  • Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, heart disease, or heart failure.

  • This medicine may cause the following problems:Angioedema (severe swelling), including head, neck, and intestinal swellingWorsening chest pain or increased risk of heart attackLow blood pressureKidney problemsLiver problems

  • Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.

  • Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine.

  • Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.

Prestalia interactions & what to avoid when taking Prestalia

  • Do not use this medicine together with aliskiren if you have diabetes.

  • Do not use this medicine together with sacubitril. Do not use this medicine and sacubitril/valsartan within 36 hours of each other.

  • Some foods and medicines can affect how perindopril/amlodipine works. Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following:Aliskiren, cyclosporine, diltiazem, gold injection, heparin, itraconazole, lithium, simvastatin, temsirolimusAnother blood pressure medicine, including an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB)Diuretics (water pills, including amiloride, spironolactone, triamterene)NSAID pain or arthritis medicine (including aspirin, celecoxib, diclofenac, ibuprofen, indomethacin, naproxen)

  • Ask your doctor before you use any medicine, supplement, or salt substitute that contains potassium.

  • Do not stop using the medicine without asking your doctor, even if you feel well. This medicine will not cure your high blood pressure, but it will help keep it in the normal range. You may have to take blood pressure medicine for the rest of your life.

  • Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine.

Prestalia side effects - How does Prestalia make you feel?

Serious Side Effects

  • Change in how much or how often you urinate

  • Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, yellow skin or eyes

  • Severe stomach pain (with or without nausea or vomiting)

  • Rapid weight gain, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet

  • Confusion, weakness, uneven heartbeat, numbness or tingling in your hands, feet, or lips

  • Lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting

  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing

  • Chest pain that may spread, trouble breathing, nausea, unusual sweating, fainting

Less Serious Side Effects

  • Dry cough
