What is Finasteride?

Finasteride is a prescription drug that (depending on the dosage) is used to treat BPH or male pattern hair loss in men. Finasteride is not indicated for use by children or women, but some doctors prescribe it off-label for post-menopausal women for hair loss. 

Finasteride is part of a drug class called 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors.
