What is Dentagel?

Dentagel is a mineral rinse used to prevent cavities and tooth decay caused by acid and bacteria. The active ingredient in this product is sodium fluoride. It works by strengthening the enamel of your teeth, making it more resistant to acid and bacteria.

This medication comes in the form of an oral gel and is usually used once daily just before bedtime. Brush teeth normally with your regular toothpaste and rinse as usual. Then apply a thin ribbon of Dentagel to your teeth with a mouth tray or toothbrush. Leave this medication for at least one minute and then spit out. Do not swallow this medication. Children should rinse their mouth thoroughly after use. For best results in adults, do not rinse your mouth, eat, or drink for at least thirty minutes after using Dentagel.

Use this product regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Read and follow the instructions provided on the product packaging before you start using this medication. If you are still uncertain about how to use this medication then talk to your doctor or pharmacist for additional information.

What are the side effects of Dentagel?

Mouth or gum irritation may occur in rare cases when using Dentagel. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of these effects and they worsen. Many patients using this medication do not have any serious side effects.

Tell your dentist or doctor right away if your teeth become stained or pitted. This often occurs as a result of excess fluoride.

Serious allergic reactions to this medication are usually rare. However, you should seek immediate medical attention if you begin to experience symptoms of a serious allergic reaction such as itching, rash, swelling in your face or throat, severe dizziness, tightness in your chest, or trouble breathing.

Ask your doctor or healthcare provider for full medical advice on the risks and benefits involved with using Dentagel as this is not a complete list of side effects.
